Tricel Sandcel Sand Polishing Filter

Sand filters for wastewater treatment

Sandcel is an advanced sand polishing filter system designed to meet the EPA Wastewater Treatment and Disposal Standards for Single Houses (p.e.), 2021. It performs a dual function—enhancing the quality of effluent from a wastewater treatment system and safely discharging the treated liquid into the groundwater.

The system features a fully enclosed sand filter, which can be installed above or below ground and adjusted in height to accommodate a wide range of site conditions. For larger-scale requirements, custom Sandcel solutions can be designed by our in-house engineering team.

How Does a Tricel Sandcel Sand Filter Work?

Tricel Sandcel filters are designed as tertiary treatment systems, providing an additional layer of purification after the secondary treatment stage in a wastewater system.

Each Sandcel unit is constructed with certified drainage sands layered within GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) impermeable panels, which are highly durable and resistant to decay or damage underground. These filters polish the effluent to an even higher standard before it is safely discharged into the environment.

Sandcel filters are versatile and can be installed either above or below ground, with all critical pipework easily accessible via a service pod for hassle-free annual maintenance.
